BIG SHOW VS RYBACK: if this is a prelude to the Intercontinental Championship triple threat match this Sunday then there’s a very strong chance that this will be brutal. This was nothing more than a legal beat down from both combatants that ended in a double count out after Ryback speared Show through the barricade.
6 Being Tag Match: NewDay VS Los Matadores & El Torito: This match was a joke and nothing more than for the NewDay to act like mocking aggressors with Woods pretending like it was a major thing to pin El Torito. And McMahon thinks this is cool. Triple H, will you just succeed him already?
I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY: Ziggler is pleased to be back and couldn’t take any more of what Lana-Rae and Rusev did to Lana. Lana’s first words was to get revenge on her former client and her imposter rather than getting intimate. The two exchange some heart-felt pleasantries and this gets interrupted by a narcissistic rant by Rusev that’d make Charlie Sheen blush citing that he’ll crush his comeback. Ziggler shuts him up and says he hasn’t even begun his comeback and he’ll steal the show and his girlfriend – the real one. Burn. #SummerSlam
JOBBING TIME! NEVILLE VS BO DALLAS: decent match with Neville winning via red-arrow. Guess Bo still doesn’t Bo-Lieve.
I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY: Stardust goes on a weird tangent, as only he knows how about how he and the cosmic-King, Barrett and he will make red and green turn black and blue. Cody is losing himself so much in this persona it’s like seeing Jim Carrey’s the Riddler & David Tennant’s Doctor in one as a unified entity that the eccentric meter is unreadable. Not even a people’s eyebrow could sum up what I was thinking.
BRING OUT THE DIVAS: BRIE BELLA VS SASHA BANKS VS BECKY LYNCH: this match features talented female wrestlers and a Bella. This was a good contest with Becky being the best performer out of the combatants but was thwarted when Brie got her in a rollup whilst holding her tights. Despite the outcome these new wrestlers are making me believers in the Divas Division. #DivaRevolution
THE MAIN EVENT: RANDY ORTON, CESARO, ROMAN REIGNS & DEAN AMBROSE VS SHEAMUS, KEVIN OWENS, BRAY WYATT & LUKE HARPER: The last SmackDown main event before the 1st historic 4 Hour SummerSlam. Cesaro was the proverbial punching bag for the Sheamus’ court before he could get to Reigns. If you want a strong finish before a major PPV, this is how you do it by having a main event that is hard to call with everyone having issues with everyone. Ambrose wins the match over Harper via dirty deeds.
Thursday night while not as strong as last week’s finish was still strong enough for those in attendance and at home to be hyped for SummerSlam. Let’s just hope this year’s 2nd biggest PPV of the year is not a meh event like it has been down the years.
SmackDown gets a B
