This week's was decent.
SmackDown Bout 16 - 8 6 2015 I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY: Reigns put out the family vs family challenge to Bray. If he could get his unquestioning family member in Luke Harper, then he would enlist the help of former United States Champion, Dean Ambrose. Rusev interrupts, shocking no one and demand that he leave. He calls Rusev’s recent antics with “hot Summer” creepy since she was basically a cheap imitation of Lana.
Mark Henry & The Prime Time Players VS New Day: NewDay’s desire reminds me of Stone Cold’s declaration from 2002 that the then WWF Championship was his drug of choice and that he needed to have it. When you’re a tag team; that should be your #1 focus; to get the gold. Only problem is for them, no one wants them to get it back. Fore, this is a Stable that is more loathed than RTC. At least with them, they were honest that they were killjoys. A decent match with Mark Henry getting the last word with the world’s strongest slam for the win. A Video package for Charlotte is aired and cites that the 16-time World Champion, her father, the Nature Boy, Ric Flair, was her inspiration. She wants to continue this Women’s Revolution and Main Event WrestleMania. The idea of a woman Main Eventing WrestleMania is fresh and intriguing. But that said they would have to make the Women’s Division so competent and ground-breaking for that to happen as at this stage; it’s not likely to happen for at least 3-4 years. My opinion.
BRING OUT THE DIVAS! CHARLOTTE VS NAOMI: 2 great talents, prospects as future Champions. I love Naomi, but Charlotte was the better wrestler until Sasha Banks decided to interfere and end in a no contest.
BRING OUT THE DIVAS: CHARLOTTE & BECKI LYNCH VS NAOMI & SASHA BANKS: With word on the wire that WWE are considering creating a Tag Team Championship for the Women, of which this would be the first instance in nearly 30 years, this would be a good event considering the amount of Women on the roster and of which can wrestle competently. Charlotte has learned well from her Hall of Famer Father as she was the most impressive athlete in this contest. If not SummerSlam, I expect to see her compete for the Divas Championship at Night of Champions in a six pack challenge. Naomi got the pin after reversing Charlotte’s pinning attempt.
JOBBING TIME! STARDUST VS ZACK RYDER: somewhere in Wales, L-Man is salivating at the fact that Zack Ryder has jobbed out again. His push in 2011 seems like an age gone by when he eventually became United States Champion. Despite some momentum it was all for not. A queen’s crossbow was all it took to put the leader of the Zack pack away. Woo woo woo, you lost again.
I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY: Stardust goes on a nonsensical rant of Stephen Amell coming to Raw next week to go one on one with him. You know it’s ironic when Goldust looks normal compared to you.
I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY: As if we hadn’t had enough talking tonight, the Big Show decides to put out a mission statement that he was training not only to become the next Intercontinental Champion at SummerSlam but to knock Ryback out. Big Show’s a man of many talents. But impersonating Rocky Balboa is not one of them.
THE MAIN EVENT: ROMAN REIGNS VS RUSEV: a charged main event that saw two titans go to war and with Lana getting the better of Lana-Rae at ringside. Why have a cheap imitation when you have the original article? Reigns won via spear. Being the buzzkill that he is, Wyatt shows up on the titantron and accepts his challenge for SummerSlam. 2 years on and this guy has done nothing except feud with people? It begs to question why the office has not put the belt on him during that time as could you imagine the shock that would create with this guy as the Undisputed Champion?
This week was satisfying. All matches kept me entertained, but slightly a little more talking segments than I would care for. SmackDown gets a B.
